Chat backgrounds

Put an image behind any chat — faded like a Messenger wallpaper — or set one default for every chat from your theme.

Every chat can have its own background image, sitting behind the messages and gently faded so the conversation stays easy to read. It works on Your log and on each AI agent's chat, and each one remembers its own picture.

Setting a background

Open a chat and click the menu at the top-right of its header.

  • Set background (or Change background) opens a picker with two tabs:
    • Gallery — the same curated images you can use for page banners. Click one and it applies instantly.
    • Upload — choose an image from your device (PNG, JPEG, WebP, or GIF, up to 10 MiB). Paste or drag works too.
  • Remove background appears once a chat has one. It clears this chat's image and falls back to your theme's default (or just the background colour).

The image is washed toward your background colour automatically, so it reads as a backdrop rather than competing with your messages — and it adjusts for light and dark themes on its own. Backgrounds sync across your devices the same way your entries do.

A default for every chat

You don't have to set each chat by hand. A theme can carry a default chat background that every chat uses unless you've given it its own.

Go to Settings → Themes, edit (or duplicate) a theme, and pick an image under Chat background. Choose None (background colour) to keep chats as a flat colour. Because the default lives on the theme, switching themes — or flipping between light and dark — can change every chat's backdrop at once.

The order of precedence is simple: a chat's own image wins; if it has none, your active theme's default shows; if the theme sets none either, the chat is just your background colour.
