Global collections

One place that gathers entries from many Collections — your log, a daily to-do, or any feed you can describe.

Kaizendex has two kinds of container, and both hold views.

A Collection holds its own entries — your Workouts, your Tasks. A global collection holds none of its own: it gathers entries that already live in other Collections. It has its own name, its own emoji, its own page, and you can favourite it and find it in search, exactly like a Collection.

Your log is a global collection. It's the default one — the everything-feed you've been using all along — and it's always there.

What a global collection is made of

Two things, and you can change either at any time:

  1. Which Collections it covers. Either only the ones you pick, or everything except the ones you pick.
  2. Its views. Just like a Collection, it can hold several ways of looking at the same entries — a feed of cards, a list of rows, a table, or a calendar that lays them out on the days they happened. Each view keeps its own filters and its own sorting.

Each entry keeps its own Collection's card design, so a Workout in a global collection still looks like a Workout.

Creating one

In the chat sidebar, press + next to Views, then New global collection. Give it a name, pick an emoji if you like, choose feed or list, then pick the Collections it covers.

That's the two-second version. Anything more precise — per-property rules, sorting, a cap on how many rows each Collection contributes — you add afterwards from its page.

Its page

Open a global collection and you get the same page a Collection gets:

  • Entries, Description and AI instructions tabs across the top. (No Properties tab — a global collection has no properties of its own; every field comes from the entry's home Collection.)
  • A row of view buttons underneath. Your main view plus a Table are always there, and + adds more.
  • Filter, Sort and New on the right of that row.

Whatever you write under AI instructions is what the AI follows whenever you chat in a view pinned from this global collection.

The Table view

The table shows each entry's title, its date — both editable right in the cell — and which Collection it came from. Click a column heading to sort by it.

New

Because a global collection owns no entries, pressing New asks which Collection the new entry belongs to first. Pick one, and the entry is created there and opens for editing.

A daily to-do

This is what the list view is for. Say you want one screen showing everything you still have to do today, pulled from three different Collections:

  • unchecked Tasks
  • unchecked Candy free
  • unchecked Minoxidil

Make a global collection covering those three with a list view, then add one rule per Collection: Collection is Tasks and Done is unchecked, grouped with or against the same pair for the other two.

Tick a row and it stops matching the rules, so it leaves the list by itself. Nothing to archive, nothing to clear.

Showing a view in your chats

The chat sidebar's Views section isn't only for global collections — you can pin any view there, from a global collection or from an ordinary Collection.

  • Press + next to Views, search for the Collection or global collection you want, and pick one of its views.
  • Or open any view and choose Show in chat from its view button's menu.

Only feeds and lists can be pinned; a table doesn't belong in a chat.

When a pinned view comes from a single Collection, typing in that chat logs straight into it — no picking, no guessing. Removing a pinned view from your chats only unpins it; nothing about the Collection or its entries changes.

A note about Collections it doesn't have

If a rule mentions a property that one of the covered Collections doesn't have, that rule simply doesn't apply to that Collection's entries — they still show. This is deliberate: a rule about Calories shouldn't blank out your Reading entries just because books don't have calories.
